What I Believe

ABOUT GOD

There is one God, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4;
II Corinthians 13:14; John 1:1, 10, 14; Isaiah 9:6; Colossians 2:9)

Our Lord Jesus Christ was the only begotten son of the Father, and is truly God and truly man. He was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died a vicarious and atoning death for the sins of the world, resurrected bodily for our justification, and now reigns in Glory. (I Timothy 3:16) Jesus Christ is the Everlasting Father, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. (Isaiah 9:6; Revelation 19:16

ABOUT SCRIPTURE

The Bible is the inerrant word of God. The scriptures are given to us by the Holy Spirit as He moved upon holy men of old. The church has no authority to establish doctrine or practice contrary to these same scriptures which were subsequently accepted as Canon by the early Christian Church. (II Timothy 3:16)

ABOUT MAN

Man was made in the image of God and is the crown of creation. He is now, by reason of "the fall", spiritually alienated from his Creator. Apart from God's grace he has no ability to attain a right standing with God. (Psalm 8; Ephesians 2:8-9) Justification is by grace through faith in our Lord's sacrifice on the cross at Calvary. (Romans 3:21-24)

Because of the sinful nature of mankind resulting from the fall, we are given the opportunity to be reunited in relationship with God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and repentance. We are then given the privilege of being buried with the Lord in the waters of baptism. The New Testament church baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Luke 13:3; 2 Corinthians 7:10; Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; 8:16; 19:5; Romans 6:3,4; II Peter 3:9)

The baptism in the Holy Spirit is an endowment of power given by God to anoint the believer for sanctification and evangelism. The supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit are active within the body of Christ until the return of the Lord. Furthermore, the development of these gifts ought to be encouraged under the guidance of the local church. (Acts 8:14-17; Acts 19:1-2; I Corinthians 12:4-7)

Those who are called by the name of Christ should depart from iniquity. One work of the Holy Spirit is to create in us the character of Christ. (II Timothy 2:19) We are to strive to be Christ like every day of our lives. Christ likeness is revealed through our lives by the fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22, 23)

ABOUT THE CHURCH

The New Testament teaches the Priesthood of the believer. That is to say all people born of God have equal status before God and direct access to their Lord.
(I Peter 2:5) The identity of the body of Christ on the earth is primarily perceived through the local church. The callings of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher are functional within the body of Christ until the Lord's return. Furthermore, these ministries are gifts to the church for the purpose of equipping Christians for the work of the ministry, that the body of Christ may be edified. (Ephesians 4:11-16)

ABOUT THE KINGDOM

The Bible teaches the literal second coming of our Lord, the literal rule of Christ upon the earth, the resurrection of the regenerate to eternal life and the unregenerate to eternal damnation, and the ultimate victory of the eternal kingdom of God.
(Acts 1:9-11; Daniel 12:2; Revelation 22:1-7)

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY

Marriage and family are ordained by God. God’s view of marriage is that it is between one man and one woman. Marriage and family is the divine plan of God.

Male and female are created in the image of God. Gender is an essential characteristic of each individual’s identity and purpose. By virtue of creation each human being is a child of God. Because of the fall of mankind into sin we must be born again to regain the status as children of God.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Ephesians 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Matthew 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

Matthew 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. God told Adam and Eve to multiply and replenish the earth. God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.

Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: …

The means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. The Bible teaches the sanctity of life and its importance in God’s eternal plan.

Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children.

Psalm 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, and to bring them up to love and serve the Lord. They are to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another, and live in obedience to the Word of God.

Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations.

Happiness in family life is achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Bible. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.

By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are to nurture their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Extended families should lend support when needed.

We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God.

Any people, government, or nation that tries to redefine marriage is inviting the judgment of Almighty God!

Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by the teaching of God’s Word!

We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.
